SkypeOut is Free...For Now

My favorite VoIP solution, Skype is offering free calls from your computer to any landline or mobile in the U.S. or Canada - that's free long distance folks.  All you need is a broadband connection, a mic, and Skype installed on your PC.  I was paying about 2 cents/minute with SkypeOut, now it's free.  Use this opportunity to check out this great communication application.  On a side note, I've heard that using a USB headset and mic gives the best results, although I have yet to test that theory.

Pandora Part 2

So yesterday's recommended site was Pandora, an amazing site that allows you to create your very own streaming radio station based on artists you like and artists that are similar.  Well, trying to get through my podcasts  on my way to work what did I hear but Leo and Amber interviewing the creator of Pandora on their podcast Inside the Net.  Here's some other gems I found out about this service: 

• It's free with ads, $3/month without ads
• The station you create can be shared with friends
• By clicking on the album art you can rate the song, go it iTunes to buy the song, go to Amazon to buy the album
• New songs are being added all the time

This is the best and easiest way that I have seen to discover new music and provides the most efficient method to add to new tunes to your collection. 

Site of the Day: Pandora

Holy Smokes, this website is cool.  Pandora, by the Music Genome Project analyzes music you like and finds similar music and creates an online radio station to listen to.  There's been a number of sites that have tried to do a similar thing, but this one gets it right.  It is so easy to use.  Do yourself a favor and check this out.

Site of the Day: FindMyCover.com

I've been using iTunes for awhile now to manage my tunes, podcasts, etc.  I've wanted to download the cover art for my albums for display on iTunes and on the ipod, but it just seemed like alot of work to go online and search them all out.  Well....it's still some work but FindMyCover.com makes it a bit easier.  This AJAX website is a simple search engine for album art.  Check it out.  I've found that sometimes you have to redo a search to find the desired art.
